An Examination of 2012

2012

The year of 2012 seemed to be a year that had a lot of great promise but sharply fell flat in delivering any generous returns on such promises. Our so-called leaders have increased their bickering and unwillingness to compromise, it seems the citizens of this country have gone mad and our push towards stability and progressive growth has stalled. Going into 2013 looks like the bad we were in is only going to get worst. That in itself is a very scary thought to ponder.

For me personally, it seems that my year of 2012 started off on a very high note than did a sharp contrast in the last quarter of the year. My personal experience seems to mirror the ride most endured during the year of 2012. The reasoning for this I believe is due to people being too comfortable in their today. What I mean by this is for the most part we as humans fail to realize what tomorrow has in store for us because our today distracts us from perceiving oncoming changes. In 2012 we were blindsided by circumstances and situations because we failed to analyze our surroundings and apply rationale reasoning to what was developing before our eyes. Now as we enter 2013, the plate is already being fixed for us without our choosing because we failed to help prepare the course while it was in the kitchen.

Is that last statement entirely true though? The year 2013 is looking dismal but is that entirely due to politicians, business leaders and influencers instead of ourselves? No, because we as the people are the ones who place power in the hands of these individuals. That is why I believe 2012 was a continuation of exposing the smoke and mirrors system we live within. We create our own pitfalls because we put too much power in the hands of others to preside over our lives. 2012 seemed to be the year of awakening and reflection but just how far deep are we already in the black hole, or for economic terms in the red hole. Policies and procedures being created on capitol hill will do nothing more than make the situation at hand more complex and chaotic. That means it is inevitable that 2012 will continue into 2013 because “we the people” lack the ability to act as we the people. Instead of collective power, fragmentation will continue to occur therefore increasing the denial of society’s own role in its continual building of its oppressive prison. For most living in this oppressive state has already been accepted as their reality. You will hear discourse and protest but for the majority of people, the recognizable truth is that the sentiment of defeat and sense of lost purpose has become the setting tone.  That  means the future of the world and society being developed is one that presents no promise of relative prosperity to be restored.

This brief examination was not solely focused on the year 2012 alone but more directed towards on how the majority continues to inflict damage upon themselves as the days, months and years pass by. Notice I said the majority, because be assured that the few are taking the necessary measures in order to ensure that they remain atop the societal food chain. As we progress into the year 2013 what actions and choices will you make in order to ensure your future is one that challenges the system being forced upon everyone else around you?
